As well as presenting a robust exterior, the camera unveils a host of cutting edge features that deliver excellent image quality too. Users can shoot 14 megapixel still photos, employ the dramatic realism of 3D, and, thanks to Eye-Fi card compatibility, automatically and wirelessly upload stills and movies to their local PC and favourite social networking sites.
Going where others cameras have feared to venture, the TG-610 even features an Underwater Snapshot mode. Whether it’s the local pool or a tropical reef, the Automatic Underwater White Balance feature optimises settings like white balance to deliver Cousteau-like shots of life beneath the waves.
Even deep underwater, a sliding double lock mechanism protects the battery, card slots and ports whilst an additional lens barrier made from metal safeguards the optical zoom lens.
Thanks to such doubly tough protection the TG-610 is fully waterproof to depths of five metres. The camera is additionally freezeproof to -10°C (14°F) and shockproofed against drops from 1.5 metres in height, so there’s no need to worry about younger members of the family using the camera for inventive new play.
